PAYING
YOUR ELECTRIC BILL JUST GOT EASIER
The Cooperative has added a "save
settings" feature on it's secure PowerPay 24 website.
Rather than have
to type in your account number each time you go to the
PowerPay site, you can key it in once and click
the "save my settings" box. (Note: Service works best
with Internet Explorer or Firefox web browsers.) |

| RENEWABLE
ENERGY PRODUCTION |
The following links provide information on
renewable energy production found on our system. The first is real time
readings from a 2.2 kW solar photovoltaic system installed at the NC Aquarium
at Pine Knoll Shores. The Aquarium is one of the first public facilities
in Carteret County to use the “green” energy source, also known as a
solar photovoltaic system. The electric cooperative donated the panels
to the Aquarium after the passage of the state’s Renewable Energy and
Energy Efficiency Portfolio Standard last year.
The standard requires electric utilities to meet a percentage of their
energy needs through renewable energy and energy efficiency resources.
As we work to meet the state standard, we also want to educate our
members about these renewable options.
The second link provides production from
a 2.4 kW residential wind turbine located at a member's home on Harkers Island.
The readings allow our members and the public to see first hand what
type of electrical generation is possible.
The third link shows data obtained from
two residential solar water heating units attached to members' homes.
Unit A features a roof mounted unit. The system is a drain back
system with circulating distilled water as the heat transfer fluid. It
uses a Chromogen 4' x 8' flat panel collector. Owner uses a deactivated 65
gallon household water heater as storage unit. Unit B is a ground
mounted system using a Chromogen 4' x 8' collector. It uses a DC pump
which circulates glycol through the internal heat exchanger. This flows
into a 65 gallon storage tank.
