Crews Replacing Lightning Arresters Damaged by Florence
CCEC members may experience brief outages while crews change out lightning arresters that were damaged during Hurricane Florence.
Lightning arrestors are installed on our distribution system to protect transformers and other equipment by diverting energy to ground when the system takes an extreme voltage spike.
The co-op has hired contractors from C.W. Wright Construction and Williams Electric to replace the several hundred damaged arrestors.
Some of the changeouts will require the crews to take transformers offline, which will cause a brief outage. They will try to contact property owners before that happens.
