Help for Co-op Members Impacted by Federal Shutdown
If you are a federal employee furloughed during the partial government shutdown and are having difficulty paying your electric bill, we will work with you to find a solution.
Emergency assistance may also be available through your local church, charitable organizations that the co-op supports through Operation RoundUP such as the Salvation Army, Hope Mission, the St. James United Methodist Church Matthew 25 Fund and the Havelock-Cherry Point Ministerial Associationas the Carteret County Department of Social Services and other organizations and agencies that provide short-term help for times like this.
If you know someone who is struggling during the shutdown and want to help, you can make a payment on that person’s account through the cooperative's HUG (home utility gift) program.
When You Give:
- Gifts must be paid with cash, check or credit card on a specific account.
- Your recipient’s electric account will be credited with your gift.
