Six Co-op Members Appointed to Nominating Committee

The CCEC Board of Directors has appointed six co-op members to serve on the Nominating Committee for the 2017 director election. Appointees are Jim Stamp, Robert Brinkley, Sherman Goodwin, Gerald Gaskill, Helen Godette and Charles L. “Chuck” Lewis.

CCEC’s service area is divided into nine districts, with directors elected for three-year terms. The terms for the directors from districts 5, 7, and 9 expire this year. District 5 includes co-op service areas on the east side of Highway 70 in and around Newport up to the Mill Pond on Mill Creek Road, and in and around Wildwood and Morehead City. District 7 includes service areas in eastern Carteret County, including Otway, Straits, Harkers Island, Fire Tower Road, Atlantic and Cedar Island. District 9 is a board seat held by a minority co-op member from anywhere within CCEC’s service area.

The committee will nominate one or more co-op members to run for election from each of these three districts.

Candidates may also be nominated by petition of 50 or more individual members from their district.

Additional information about this year’s annual meeting, including ballots, if needed for election of directors, will appear in the April issue of “Member News.” Voting is by mail-in ballot, and the results are announced and certified at the 2017 Annual Meeting on May 4, 2017 at Glad Tidings Church in Morehead City.

For more information about the election process, contact CEO Craig Conrad at 252.247.3107.
